The
convention showed that Democrats clearly have the energy, enthusiasm and a
clear and popular alternative to defeat George W. Bush in November. America
is ready and in need of change and John Kerry came across as the person most
capable of leading us to a more hope filled future.
Speaker
after speaker emphasized that you don't lead by misleading as the present
administration has done. That no one political party can hide behind the
American flag and claim to have a monopoly on patriotism. The convention
brought together top military experts who through their support behind John
Kerry and criticized the President for getting us into a war without a
strategy on how to get out, a fundamental military concept.
Economic
and medical reform also were at the forefront of the Democratic platform.
Stopping companies from outsizing to other countries is a key in stopping
the loss of jobs in this country and a plan on how to do this was presented.
Affordable health care and prescription drugs for every American was also
stressed and could be done by cutting back on the tax cut for the richest
one percent.
The
people of Boston were truly hospitable and welcomed us warmly. Though I did
see one button that read "Kerry for President but the Yankees still suck."
Remember,
"Friends don't let friends vote Republican." Hope is on the way.
